Rockettes Still Rock
While the replacement of some conventional sets with projections in some scenes seemed there were fewer live animals and I miss, this is still a great show. I have not done the Christmas spectacular in almost 20 years, so was prepared to be disappointed. The rising and falling snowflakes and some of the other new effects were lovely. The Rockettes remain amazing, and the music is still first rate. Not so sure about the 3-D bit - a little too "movie-ish" for me, but I did like the sensation of the geese flying at us. The Clara ballerina was fine, but might have been a little more advanced as a dancer. The couple next to me, in their sixties, were having as good a time, if not better, than the kids behind me. Santa got better as the show went on, a little more real in the later scenes. Of course, the prices for the show are outrageous, but not worse than other live theater. I'm not sure I would do this every year, but I won't wait another twenty years before going again. If it were available, I would have made this a 4.5 stars.
